Maharaja Sayajirao University Of Baroda, Pratapgunj Vadodara invites applications for admission to the Ph.D Program courses for academic year 2013

Ph.D Program

Eligibility: The candidates holding recognized master’s degree or recognized equivalent to master’s degree with 50% or equivalent grades (without grace marks or rounding off) are eligible to appear

The candidates who have qualified in National/State level competitive examination like UGC-CSIR/ NET/ SET/ GATE /DBT/ICMR/JRF and also M.Phil degree holder are exempted from appearing in PET examination

On qualifying the PET examination the candidate can enroll himself/herself for Ph.D within a period of two years from the date of declaration of the result

Entrance Test

Part-A- General Aptitude (Multiple choice questions)

There shall be 35 questions, all are compulsory and each question carries two marks

The medium of examination will be in English only

Part-B Discipline wise (multiple choice questions)

There shall be 50 questions, all are compulsory and each question carries two marks

The medium of examination shall be in English only, except in the test for language subjects other than English

The negative marking at the rate of 25% for each wrong answer in the examination will be deducted

The candidates who score 50% in each Part-A (35 marks) and Part-B (50 marks), and aggregate of 60% (marks 102 out of 170), will be eligible for the personality test

Part-C Personality Test

The candidates who have qualified in written test shall appear for the personality test which shall be conducted by the concerned Dept/Faculty/Institute

The PET examination will be conducted on 10th February, 2013, Sunday, 12.00 Noon to 02.00 p.m.

Hall Ticket: Examination hall ticket will be provided online to all candidates 5 days prior to the date of the examination

Candidates have to click the link download examination hall ticket

Provide application number and date of birth and print the online examination hall ticket

Candidates have to download and get a printout of examination hall ticket

It will not be sent to the candidates by post

Candidate must carry examination hall ticket and also one additional photo identity such as a driving license, voter ID, college/university identity card, PAN card etc to the examination center on the day of the examination

Examination Fee: General/OBC candidates Rs 1500/-; SC/ST/PH/VH candidates Rs 1000/-

The examination fees can be paid only by a demand draft drawn on any nationalized bank payable at Vadodara in the name of Coordinator, PET Examination, Vadodara

The candidate has to attach the demand draft with the printout of online application form to submit to the PET Agency office, Vadodara

How to Apply

Candidates must read the eligibility criteria carefully to satisfy themselves regarding their eligibility for the test before online registration and submitting the printout of online application forms

Before applying online, candidates are advised to go through detailed notification available at PET website

Fill the details of demand draft number, date and bank name in the application form which is compulsory for form submission

Fee submitted through any other mode like cash, money order, pay order, cheque, IPO etc will be summarily rejected

Before applying online, the candidates must possess the scanned passport size photograph in JPEG format and should not be more then 100 kb; demand draft and its details; personal details, educational details etc

Candidate seeking admission to the test must apply online through a link apply for PET available on the PET website www.gujaratset.ac.in

No other means/ mode of application will be accepted

When a candidate click the apply for PET button a window will appear entitled online registration for Ph.D entrance test (PET examination)

Click the button register for PET to fill up the application form online

Please fill correct information carefully in the online application form and follow the on screen instructions for filling up application form

Confirm that your name, subject, category, physically or visually handicapped, demand draft details and all other details filled are correct

No correction will be made after you submit the application form

After filling all the information correctly please click submit button given below the page

After you submit your details, your application number will be generated and displayed on the page

Please note down application number correctly and carefully for all future purposes and correspondences, to reprint the application form, to download examination hall ticket and to download results

After taking down the application number click on button next

After successful submission and confirmation, the candidate should take printout of filled online application form two copies on A-4 size paper only in portrait orientation to have it on one single page

Last date to submit online application is 23/01/2013

Date of Entrance Test (PET) is 10/02/2013
